Download The Masterplan

The Masterplan (2026) is Santiago Garcia’s itch.io horror game. This is an unofficial guide.

I walked the itch.io buttons on 2026-10-27. From the game page I chose Download Now, landed on the purchase page, and used “No thanks, just take me to the downloads.” No login wall appeared. The sentence on that page is: “This game is free but the developer accepts your support by letting you pay what you think is fair for the game.” Paying is optional. Skipping payment is the path the page itself offers. It is not a cracked build.

Steps

  1. Open the official itch.io page for The Masterplan by Santiago Garcia.
  2. Choose Download Now. You will see suggested amounts of $1, $2, $5, and $10, plus a way to continue without paying.
  3. If you are not paying, choose “No thanks, just take me to the downloads.”
  4. Pick TheMasterplan.zip (170 MB) on Windows or TheMasterplan-LINUX.zip (172 MB) on Linux.
  5. Unzip. On Windows, start The Masterplan.exe. There is no setup wizard in that archive.

What the Windows archive contains

When I listed the 170 MB zip I did not find an installer. The top level is the Unity player layout: the exe, UnityPlayer.dll, a The Masterplan_Data folder, D3D12, MonoBleedingEdge, and UnityCrashHandler64.exe. I did not unpack the Linux zip, so I will not invent its binary name. Run whatever executable the Linux archive ships.

Platforms that are not here

  • No Mac build on the itch.io page.
  • No Android or iOS build.
  • No HTML5 or WebGL build, so this website does not embed a playable copy.
  • The 2015 Steam game with the same title is a different product. Do not buy that one if you want this horror short. See the 2015 versus 2026 comparison.

Before you download, read what we can and cannot say about hardware. Garcia has not published minimum specs.

Source register

Evidence checked 2026-10-27. These are source pages, not alternate game downloads. Only the developer’s itch.io page supplies the game files. Community video titles and chapter marks are not developer instructions; our guide distinguishes them from official facts.

Questions

Is the download free?
The purchase page says the game is free and Garcia accepts a payment if you want to pay. On 2026-10-27 the suggested amounts were $1, $2, $5, and $10. “No thanks, just take me to the downloads” reached the files without an account.
Which file do I want?
Windows is TheMasterplan.zip at 170 MB. Linux is TheMasterplan-LINUX.zip at 172 MB. There is no Mac, Android, or browser file.
Is there an installer?
Not in the Windows zip. It contains The Masterplan.exe, UnityPlayer.dll, The Masterplan_Data, D3D12, MonoBleedingEdge, and UnityCrashHandler64.exe. Unzip and run the exe. The Linux executable name was not checked.
Where else can I download it?
Only from the itch.io page linked here. This site does not mirror the zip and does not link third-party “play online” copies.
